Statement: Agra's decision: Unacceptable and outrageous
The resolution of Acting Justice secretary Alberto Agra to release the two Ampatuan's suspect of most brutal and morbid Maguindanao massacre which murdered defenseless 57 civilians is absolutely unacceptable and outrageous.
Even though not totally surprising at all, considering the closeness between PGMA to the infamous Ampatuan clan in ARMM which allegedly benefited the former during the 2004 election as what "Hello Garci" tape conceived, but not as brazen and shameless..
The Ampatuan's fate is exactly opposite to the plight of the rising number of political detainees who are still languishing at different penitentiary and detention centers all over the country facing false trumped-up criminal and political charges and with turtle-paced court battle and proceedings.
The continued incarceration of innocuous health workers, known as Morong 43 proves the failure of the judiciary to uphold the basic tenet of the law… "Those who are less favored in life should be more favored by law".
It is clear that the judiciary was shaken by numerous undying controversies during the Arroyo administration only to serve her selfish political survival. Certainly, those who abetted these egregious acts will not be spared from people's condemnation and outrage.
For the justice-loving, morally and integrity upright legal luminaries, practitioners and students must join and work with the entire Filipino nation to save the last bastion of democracy from total deterioration and loss of people's trust and confidence before its too late.
Restore the integrity of judiciary and spare it from politics. Justice for the victims of Ampatuan, Maguindanao massacre and human right violations. Free all political prisoners!
