Garbage, garbage everywhere

GARBAGE IN THE CITY. A Cebuano who has been working in Manila for two years returned to Cebu recently. He complained that there are so many garbage strewn around the city that it has become an eyesore for tourists. He said, “Daghan na kaayo ang basura gapasad diri. Mora’g wala na’y mga street cleaners nga gaatiman ani. Ma turn off ang mga turista. Hugaw kaayo tan-awon.”

STREETSIDE GARBAGE. An Ear informer also said that many people, especially jeepney passengers and pedestrians are complaining of the many piles of garbage found in Cebu City. One can find piles of garbage along Colon St., Fuente Osmeña and along Sikatuna St., a few meters from the Zapatera Elementary School. The Ear informer said that he passes by Sikatuna St. everyday and the stench from the garbage in that area is so foul that people cover their noses when they pass by. Worse, he said, when jeepneys waiting for the traffic light to turn green will stop in that area. He said, “Na, luoy kaayo ang mga pasahero. Kasukaon sa kabaho sa basura.”
