For our Special Report on Straight from the Sky tonight, we bring you a discussion dubbed “Understanding Climate Change: A Different Perspective.” For the last five years, the international community has shown concern over the global problem of climate change. This was even popularized by former US Vice-President Al Gore who came up with a documentary called “An Inconvenient Truth,” which he won a Nobel Prize.
There is no question that all of us should care for our environment, after all, we only have one Mother Earth and we certainly cannot abandon this Earth for another planet. So we better take care of our planet otherwise its environment might just be too hostile for man to live in. We already know that eons ago, dinosaurs once ruled the earth. But something happened that made the dinosaurs extinct and the most plausible answer is that something happened that made life unbearable for those huge creatures, so they died out.
Tonight, we bring you Mr. Christopher Go, whom we already had as guest on our show some years back as he is an Interplanetary Imager and an amateur scientist teaching at the University of San Carlos (USC) Physics Department. He discovered another Red Spot, now called Red Spot Junior on the planet Jupiter and is known amongst the world’s Interplanetary Imagers.
I didn’t realize that the study of planets and their environments has also helped scientists in finding out the earth’s problems on climate change. One thing that intrigued me is what Chris said that decisions in the scientific community are never unanimous… somehow there is always a dissenting opinion. We have brought you the concerns of NGO’s on Global Warming in our past shows and this show will present a different perspective, especially Climategate.
Tonight we ask the question: Are we in Global Warming mode or is it really Global Cooling? So watch this very interesting show tonight on SkyCable’s Channel 15 at 8pm so you too don’t have to take what some self-professed environmentalists say is bible truth!

We wrote in our Philippine Star column a week ago that we should be very careful in electing our Senators because in this present Constitution of ours, they are as important as electing our President. Yet we already got the information from surveys that Sen. Bong Revilla and Sen. Jinggoy Estrada are leading the Senate race. That the surveys also show that despite the controversy of the C-5 “Insertions” by Sen. Manny Villar, he has already caught up with the survey front-runner Sen. Noynoy Aquino, III. How sad!
All this tells you that we still have an ignorant electorate who votes on name recall rather than who is good or who is bad for the country. That the most popular Senators are the movie stars and those obnoxious loud mouths in the Senate who fight their fellow Senators using the foulest of languages as if they were quarreling over fish in the market place! While we are not naming names, I’m sure that most of you know who they are and I dare say, enough! We should vote for new Senators who can do good for this country, people who are visionaries who want to see a better country!

Talking about visionaries, one such person that comes to mind is our former Gov. Emilio “Lito” Osmeña who is running under his old standard, Probinsya Muna Development Initiatives (Promdi). Though he is running solo for the Senate, we in Cebu and most of the Visayan and Mindanao know that he won’t be using any foul languages, nor will he be seeking to fight anyone in the Senate. How do we know that? When there was a quarrel between him and his own brother former Sen. John “Sonny” Osmeña, Lito would only answer if it was absolutely necessary, otherwise he chose to remain silent so as not to aggravate the situation.
As for his Presidential candidate, I asked Lito whom he has chosen. He told me that it would be known by April together with former President Fidel V. Ramos (FVR). Indeed, both Lito and FVR are in a sort of a dilemma as their heart is for Tita Cory, which is not necessarily transferable to Noynoy. Rather, it is “utang na loob,” but they know that the man who can bring real change to this country is former Defense Sec. Gilbert “Gibo” Teodoro, Jr. So we’ll just wait until they make a decision by April.
I have already written this as fact that Lito Osmeña was going to bankroll the Liberal Party campaign and he already gave the Noynoy campaign P1.5 million as seed money. But instead of acknowledging the help of Lito, LP did him a huge disfavor in accepting Vice-Gov. Greg Sanchez as the LP gubernatorial candidate. In short, it was the LP that pushed Lito away instead of getting his advice as to who should be running with Jun Jun Davide. If the LP officials are showing how ingrato they are, you can just imagine what would happen if and when Noynoy becomes President!
