Pinoys' "mañana" habit

PROCRASTINATORS. A reader reacted to yesterday’s editorial about people always waiting until the last minute before registering at the Comelec office. He commented that it has always been the habit of Filipinos to procrastinate or put things off until the last minute to do anything. He said, “Mao man gyud na ang Pinoy. Ang ‘mañana’ habit nga gikuha nato gikan sa mga Español. Mao man gani ang kanang word na ‘mañana’ evolved into the Tagalog word ‘mamaya na’.

SAME ON ELECTION DAY. This reader said that he expects the same procrastination come election day. He predicts that the same people who waited until the last minute to register will be the same people who will also wait a few minutes before closing to cast their votes. He said, “Pustaanay ba. Ang maong mga tawo nga naglangay-langay pagpa-register, mao gihapon na sila ang magdugay-dugay pag-botar. Ila na man nang kinaiya.”
