Political aspirant hopes jingle will catch on

NOBODY BUT YU. A man with the surname of Yu is mulling running for a barangay post. He told family and friends he is serious about his ambition and already thought of a jingle. He will have local girls sings “Nobody, nobody but Yu” and change the lyrics into Visayan about himself. One of his cousins said while this may be a good idea, one of his foreseen rivals is a neighbor with the surname of Chu, and the jingle could work either way. Right now the barangay official aspirant is worried about two things: If the song is still a hit next year and if Chu also uses the jingle to his advantage.

HIGH-END, LOW-END. A frequent shopper told The Ear you can really tell between grocers and baggers from high-end and low-end department stores. High-end grocer cashiers are courteous, quick and seldom ask for loose change. The baggers are also fast and know what items should be in the same plastic bag. “Ang mga taga-(name of store withheld) isagul ang insecticide og utanon sa plastic,” the source said, “unya ang mga cashier pirmi lang nag-moro. Usahay mangaway pa gyud. Kapila nako nakakita og away. Sige pa gyud og tabi sa ilang mga kauban.”
