You think Jinggoy and Ping are bad mud-slingers? Ondoy is worse. Look at what he did to the innocent people in Metro Manila.

A tv report says a man making the Laban ("L") sign in jest as he waded through chest-deep water in Marikina got drowned. He was a lunod-patay fan of Noynoy?

A woman called up my office last Monday and immediately asked in somewhat haughty manner: "Kamo diha nangadye na mo'g pasalamat nga si Ondoy wa mosalakay sa Cebu?"
* * *
I answered: "Yes, of course, Ma'am. Nag-pamisa pasalamat pa man gani mi. Ikaw?" There was momentary silence. Then she put down her phone.

TF sports columnist Raffy Uytiepo paid me a surprise Wednesday morning. He came to check if it's true that I move around on a wheelchair. He found me sitting on a chair, all right, but no wheels.
* * *
Raffy was, of course, just joking. I told him to tone down his running activities because at 62 he's no longer as strong as when he was 26. He nodded and said: "That's why I'm now trying to develop a fallback activity, singing."
* * *
Raffy is now doubly busy. I say "doubly" because he'g got his hands (feet?) full of invitations to organize running events and invitations for him to perform as Elvis Presley in some big hotels here and even in Bacolod City.

Before my septuagenarian mind gives me the slip, let me put in this little obit about one of Cebu's centenarians Conrado Menchavez who passed away recently at 101. This I learned from Ben Ypil, a good friend of the Menchavezes. All Sir Conrado's children Tony, Celi, Roberto and Joe were here with their spouses. Robert (Obet) is Ben's bosom friend. I join Ben in his prayer for Sir Conrado's eternal rest.

Email from Paolo Cuerpo: "What happened in Luzon during the onslaught of tropical storm Ondoy was terrible. Everyone was taken by surprise and the government was unable to meet the surprise and lessen the impact. The lesson is there and it must be learned. Let's all be like the Boy Scouts ... always Be Prepared."

An almost similar thought was expressed in another e-amail posted by Nenita Plaridel who said she's from San Mateo where two relatives of hers were still missing.
