A lie has more life than a cat
A college professor told his students: “If you’re new voters, don’t forget to cast your votes in 2010.” He added: “I said cast, not cash.”

A congressman says, “I want to strangle anyone who tells lies about me.” He has reason to. As Mark Twain once said, that a lie has more lives than a cat.

John Ruskin says the first test of a truly great man is his humility. I have observed that many, if not most, of the 2010 candidates have flunked this test.

It says here that needle (dagom) attacks have been spreading in many cities in China. These attacks are not as deadly as our ice pick attacks but the concerned public has been needling authorities to act and pricking their ass into action.

E-mail from Nympha Yee: “Don’t give too much publicity to the scandal in Lindogon. Malooy kong Mama Mary bisan tuod wa siyay labot sa giingong anomaly sa pipila ka monghe.”

My good friend and media colleague Bobit Avila brought home — for me — newspapers from Dubai, which he always does everytime he comes home from his foreign trips.

The Dubai papers include the popular Gulf Times for which I once wrote a human interest article; the Khaleej Times, the Xpress, the City Times, The National. The Gulf Times, Khaleej Times, and Xpress are printed on glossy paper!

The Xpress has a language section where an English sentence in translated into three “popular language” namely Arabic, Hindi and Tagalog (Filipino). The Xpress issue brought home by Bobit carries an article about a Filipina mother seeking help from readers for her to fulfill a promise to her children that she would buy them a computer.
