HAVE BAT WILL STRIKE - Juanito V. Jabat   -

There are 12 presidentiables as of this writing. Only one of them will win. The rest will be cheated.

Bro. Eddie Villanueva of the Jesus is Lord (JIL) and Bro. Mike Velarde of El Shaddai are running for President. We’ll find out who packs more wallop — the JIL or El Shaddai.

Bro. Mike is doubtless the more colorful Bro. His coats are colorful. They come in violet, orange, red, pink and yellow.

Rachel Alejandro, the singer, is now into selling food for weight watchers. Some of these weight watchers are funny. I read in Fr. Jerry Orbos’ book “Just a Moment” about the weight watchers’ prayer. “Lord,” it says, “if you can’t make me thin, make all my friends fat.”

There’s a dieting expert in America with a sure-fire dieting formula. He advises weight watchers: “Eat all you want but eat the fruits first.” After the fruits, you can eat all you can if you still can. I heard this from Ruben Almendras, the money management expert.

I got an e-mail from Ramon Chavez Peralta who identified himself as the father of a homosexual. He said he felt bad when he heard on a radio program a listener/interactor who made “malicious fun” of Ang Ladlad, a partylist that seeks to bring the third sex’s voice to Congress — if approved by the Comelec.

“Nganong yagayagaan man ang mga bayot nga wa nay kadautan nga nahimo sa nasud?” Mr. Peralta said. “Nganong di man nila yagayagaan ang mga partylist sa mga komunista nga nakadaut sa nasud?”

E-mail from Charmaine Abella, a Cebuana pharmacist-aide in Toronto, Canada: “I read in your newspaper that thousands of nurses are being produced by our schools there. Who’ll provide them employment? Even in the US and Canada Pinay nurses are getting stiff competition from the East Indians, Puerto Ricans, and other SEA nurses.

Oh, well, maybe let’s just leave well enough alone. Let’s give them the benefit of your doubt, Charmaine. And just wish them luck.

“Have you noticed that Rep. Bongbong Marcos has started moving around? He has and I think he’s up to something surprising,” said Ping Lanuza, who calls himself “political analyst.” In a talk with me not long ago, Mr. Lanuza said: “The nation will wake up one morning to see Bongbong senator.”

* * *

Not really surprising, Mr. Lanuza. The signs are everywhere telling us Bongbong is running for senator and chances are he’ll make it.
