Even in death they didn't part

HAVE BAT WILL STRIKE - Juanito V. Jabat   -

Cory was buried close to the grave of Ninoy. Soon they’ll be together in the new P500 bill. Even in death they didn’t part.

Some people are urging Kris Aquino to run for the Senate in the 2010 election. Kris has got what it takes to be a good lawmaker. But is there a crying need for her at this time?

* * *

Heard in a resto: “Why should some people criticize Kris for crying everytime she faced a tv camera?” Yes, why? This is a free country, made free by her mom.

A partylist congressman accused of being a communist by another partylist congressman was in the Manila Cathedral during the necro rites for Cory Aquino. Someone was heard asking: “Kamao ba na siya manguros?”

* * *

The question was apparently asked because of the fact that communists are said to be godless. “They don’t believe in the cross,” another someone butted in. “But double cross they believe in.”

A toughie in Binondo was stabbed dead by a Cebuano dockhand he called coward. That’s proof of the saying I once read in a book given to me by Dr. Darcy Tabotabo. The saying goes: “As cowardly as a coward is, it is not safe to call a coward a coward.”

The Powerade Team Pilipinas beat Sri Lanka, 115-31, in Tianjin. This was expected. Sri Lankas learned to dribble a basketball only now. It’s no cricket to let them play a team whose players seem to consider basketball a religion.

The Sri Lankans’ favorite game is cricket. Let our basketball players play against them in their favorite game and you’ll see our boys looking like stooges.

Ed Recla, Cebuano mediaman based in Boston (although he has a house in Cebu described by Loy Jurado as ‘grabeng nindota’) sent me an e-mail about his meeting with Ben Ypil, another Cebuano mediaman, vacationing in the US. Ed said: “Ok ra ang apo-stolic mission ni Ben.”

Ben’s apo-stolic mission refers to his babysitting job for his five-month old apo in Indianapolis, Indiana.
