I heard a lawmaker say on tv: “The beauty of our democracy is that we can attack the mayor, the governor and even the President, and get away with it.” But don’t try it on a hungry traffic enforcer or LTO deputy.

Most of our political leaders have the gift of gab. God has bestowed on them the skill to use their tongue to express their desire. No problem. The problem comes in when aside from having the gift of gab, they also have the gift of grab.

The virtue of self-help is again being pushed by a government body. Let’s not mistake the meaning of self-help, especially if you are working for the government. Self-help does not mean you’re free to help yourself to the gravy.

The latest SWS survey shows Erap on No.2 spot. If the next survey would show him on No.1, an 82-year-old war veteran says: “I’ll start praying for this country.”

I asked the war veteran: “Why, what’s wrong with Erap?” His reply: “Patusotuso ka pa da. Wa ka kailang Erap?... Wa ka kaila kon kinsa si Erap?” That silenced me. Nasuko ang tiguwang. Hehe!
