"Giyera patani" someone calls it
One BFTanco sent me this e-mail: “Happy birth anniversary. How does it feel to be 90?” I don’t know if he’s referring to me or The Freeman which has just turned 90.
* * *
If I were 90 I would feel great. All the people I didn’t like as well as those who didn’t like me are all gone. But wait, wait, wait. The 90 here should refer to the age of TF.

The exchange of barbs between — or among — warring political playmates continues. “Giyera patani,” someone calls it. The latest “patani” comes from Guvnor Gwen who said she’s giving the cash gift P2,000 to Mayor Tom O who is turning 61.
* * *
She said: “P2,000 cash gift para lang niya. Ako ipa deliver. That is in line with pure pity for this sick old man.” (Ugh!) May I say something? That’s what they call double whammy. Sick na, old man pa. Hehe!

Capitol Info Consultant Roy Jon Sepulveda joined the “giyera” saying: “Wala usa to ang P5,000 nga burial ha.” Ugh! Ugh!
* * *
Tom O is not accepting the P2,000 cash gift, the same amount he gives to every senior citizen in the city. “Gwen doesn’t need my money and I don’t need hers. She can keep the P2,000. I don’t need it,” Hizzoner said.
* * *
Earlier, Tom O said he would transport straight to the governor’s office all the sick in the CCMC who come from the province. He announced that he had already assigned a multicab to ferry the sick probinsiyanos.
* * *
The Guvnor said the province is willing to accommodate patients from the city. She said: “I-apil ta na lang pud intawon ang inyong constituents nga wala sad gyud intawon medical services kay wala na may kuwarta tawon ang siyudad.”

E-mail from Rhodora Ting, a Cebuana businesswoman in Manila: “Cebu, our Cebu, is progressing by leaps ang bounds. It would be galloping faster and higher if all Cebu leaders unite as one. Di ba mag-iyahay. Di ba magsinahay.”
* * *
Reader Rhodora didn’t say it but let me guess what’s in her mind: She’s referring to the people involved in the ongoing “giyera patani” in Cebu. Correct me if I’m wrong. Ms. Ting. You know my e-mail add.

Lawyer Joji Alonso, host of one of my favorite late-night tv shows “Legal Forum,” saw online what I wrote about her program and e-mailed her thanks. OK, no problem, attorney. Keep up the fine hosting.
