Cases against ofws. A Filipino Muslim educator says he’s appalled by the growing number of Filipino workers “committing” various crimes in the Middle East and ending up in the gallows. He said crime cases, especially murder slapped against Pinoy overseas workers, must be given “prominent publicity” after the accused shall have been found guilty and meted the appropriate penalty by the court. “This would help in making our OFWs extra careful while working in a foreign land,” the educator said.
Imperative need. The same Filipino Muslim educator believes there is an imperative need for the government — and the media — to inform OFWs of the harsh sentences imposed by Middle Eastern courts on erring foreigners. “This could open the eyes and minds of our countrymen working in countries where Islamic laws are strict and harsh,” he said.
