Citom was created to earn revenues?
Appetizer from Banat News’ Brenda Batuto: “In this world, a successful married life depends on one simple equation: Wife having Beauty Secrets and husband having Secret Beauties.”

Mayor Tom O should take it easy in his criticism of Vice Mayor Mike Rama. Because while he gnashes his teeth and harms his heart in anger, his VM is out there singing and dancing and laughing with comedians.

Tom O is not pleased that the income of Citom has dropped. And he blames Mike R (who else?). But Mike has become immune to Hizzoner’s making him a whipping boy. So what else is new?

After calling Tom O nocus or squid, Guv Gwen Garcia followed it up by calling him a “temperamental erratic bully.” Ugh! “Temperamental” is OK. “Erratic” is OK too. But “bully” is not OK. It puts one on the level of a nightclub or honky-tonk bouncer. Or a waterfront brute.

You know what? I like Guv Gwen’s language — I mean her prose — when she’s in fighting mood. The choice of words, or the words chosen, are tough but colorful. They sting like a bee and float like a butterfly. (With apologies to Muhammad Ali.)

Going back to Citom’s reduced earnings which Hizzoner blamed on the Vice Mayor, many are asking: “Was the Citom created to earn revenues for the city? If so, mao diay’ng rason nga ang mga traffic enforcer magpataka la’g panakop aron modako ang kita sa multa.”

The US Federal Reserve (called US Fed in short) has launched a bold $1.2 trillion effort to revive the US economy that has been sinking deeper in recession. This bold move by the US Fed should be welcomed by us in RP. Never mind if the militant anti-Americans would say: “So what?”

I don’t know anything about global economics but I think that the success of the US Fed effort would also redound to the benefit of Philippine business. Especially our export sector which depends much on the US market. What do you think of what I think, Joefel?

E-mail from Phil Landrito in Seattle, Wash: “The jeepney has become a tourist attraction in the Philippines, including Cebu. I was told that a lot of foreigners visiting our country always make it a point to ride in our jeepney even for just a short distance just for the experience ... ‘It’s fun,’ a Puerto Rican neighbor of mine said. But he said the driver and the conductor need to dress well.”
