Mascot as traffic enforcer

- The Ear -

MASCOT TRAFFIC. A mascot of a popular fastfood chain was seen Tuesday afternoon at Colon St., manning vehicular traffic, much to the surprise of commuters and to the delight of children. Many wondered if it was an employee of the fastfood outlet manning traffic or a Citom enforcer in costume. A mediaman opined that it must be a publicity stunt of the fastfood outlet. Whatever the reason, it sure was an effective publicity and it gave color to the monotony of downtown street life.

DISTRACTED. The downside of the mascot manning traffic is the distraction it posed to drivers and pedestrians. Several drivers smiled when they saw the mascot but didn’t pay attention to traffic lights or to the pedestrians who were likewise distracted by the mascot that they fail to look where there were going. The mediaman commented, “Ang usa ka bata, nadasmag na lang sa ambulant vendor kay nalingaw sa mascot.”
