I'm writing about the Sinulog Photo Contest 2009 sanctioned by the Sinulog Foundation.
Rule No. 3 of the said contest requires the submission of photo entries accompanied with the shot's Raw File Format in CD. The submission of RAW may have its good intention but what the organizers failed to see is that in effect, the contest discriminates photo enthusiasts using Point and Shoot cameras who want to join the contest.
As hobbyists may have known, Point and Shoot cameras don't have the capability to save images on RAW. It can only capture images on JPEG.
The contest should not be designed exclusively for DSLR camera users because I do believe capturing fantastic Sinulog shots, which is the objective of the contest, is not the monopoly of DSLRs. Photography experts once told me, "It is not in the arrow but in the Indian".
Sinulog should not be a time to discriminate!
