12D Jeepney often trip-cuts

- The Ear -

TRIP-CUTTER. An Ear source said he observed that a 12D jeepney often trip-cuts when the driver sees he has too few passengers. The source said two people take turns driving the PUJ but they seem to have the agreement that when they reach the corner of Junquera and Colon streets they either turn left in accordance with the normal route if they have many passengers or turn right heading to Gaisano Metro if they have too few. They just tell their passengers to get off as they have a “family member” to pick up in Gaisano Metro. Aside from this, the source said he sometimes sees the same jeepney with a 12J sign instead of 12D.

ENOUGH IS ENOUGH. The nth time he was asked to get off as the driver was about to turn right to Colon St. he finally confronted the man about his trip-cutting and told him what he had observed. The man kept apologizing and pleaded with him not to report him to the Land Transportation Office. He also took the man to his destination and did not even ask for fare. “Nakuyawan lagi to siya,” the source said to the Ear, “nabuking na sa iyang kabuang.” The source also said he is giving the drivers one last chance, the next time he sees the jeepney doing this he will report it to the LTO.
