HEAVENLY GIFT? Many coffeshop habitués still talk of the $60,000 accidentally dumped with the garbage and eventually found by a scavenger at the Inayawan dumpsite. One said that if he found the money, he would keep it as he considers this a “heavenly gift”. He said, “Kung ako nakakita ato, para gyud to sa ako. Gift from heaven kato.” When asked by his friend if he fears legal repercussions with his discovery, he said, “Ngano ikiha man ko? Bisan accidental, apan gilabay na gud to so the money is considered garbage na, gibasura na gud, di ba? Naa ba gud nakiha pagpunit sa basura?”
OR CURSE? At another café, The Ear also heard another opine about the dollars dumped in the garbage. He said that if he was the one who found the $60,000, he would keep the money until somebody looks for it, then return the whole amount as he considers that amount of “find” a curse. He said, “Demalas kana ‘Bay. Maghatag ra nag problema. Ang kuwarta nga kinit-an sa hangin, dali ra mawala. Plus, magdala pa kana og bad luck. Look at what happened to the scavenger who found it. Napuno og problema. So better return the money and collect your rewards in heaven na lang.”
