Charity that places kids in danger
CHARITY IN ITS PROPER PLACE. A middle-aged woman who volunteers her time in church organizations said that charity is good and giving alms to the poor and to the needy children is admirable and good Christian practice. But, she said that people should also put in mind that if they give money to children in the streets, they endanger these kids they are being charitable to. She said, “Maghuna-huna sab unta ning mga tawo. Oo, maayo lagi ang mohatag, apan kung ang imong aksiyon, nakabutang aning mga bataa sa kakuyaw, himuon gihapon nimo?”
FOR KIDS’ SAFETY. A businessman engaged in retail business also said that arresting children to get them off the streets is an aggressive move but an effective one. He suggests that these children should be rounded up and with the help of barangay tanods, reprimand the parents and lecture them on the danger of letting their children carol in the streets. He said, “Angay lecturan ning mga ginikanan, kay gapabaya lang sila sa ilang mga anak nga maglaroy-laroy sa kadalanan. Kung maligsan uroy, lisod na.”
