Beware of keeping a fake coin in your pocket

- The Ear -

FAKE MONEY. Fake P10 coins are circulating nationwide. The Central Bank authorities are advising those who happen to receive these fake coins to turn them over to the authorities. But a mediamen said if he happened to have a fake coin he’d throw it away instead of bringing it to the Central Bank. “Di ba illegal ang magkupot og fake money?” he said. “Suppose I am caught having the fake coins on my way to the Central Bank to turn over the said coins, what guarantee do I have that I wouldn’t be arrested by some tarantado in uniform?”

IT HAS HAPPENED. The said mediaman said it happened before. A Fil-Chinese trader was on his way to the Central Bank to turn over a P500 bill when a man posing as a cop, who had seen him possessing the bogus banknote, nabbed him and accused him of being a passer of fake money. The trader got off the hook with the help of his lawyer son-in-law.
