Letter to the editor -Canned meat should be tested for melamine

I fully agree with the plan of the authorities of the National Meat Inspection Service (NMIS) to test those canned meat coming from China if whether or not they also contain the dreaded melamine.

The fact that the dreaded melamine has already killed a number of children in China, could make their proposal very justifiable.

The most important task of the NMIS is to ensure that the meat from the country's slaughter houses are highly sanitized and are safe to eat. This includes canned meat imported from other countries like China.

The fact that China's milk products have scared many countries of the globe has provided us a good reason to test its canned meat also. I believe that prevention is better than the cure.
