Kidding the VPs

HAVE BAT WILL STRIKE - Juanito V. Jabat   -

There is a political saying that goes: “A man would rather be right than President.” This could be the reason why Sen. Bong Revilla would rather be Vice President than President.

* * *

In RP, the Vice President is not a cog in the government machinery. He’s given the “unjuicy” positions. VP Noli de Castro knows this. That’s why he’s running for President.

* * *

Alaska Governor Sarah Palin has accepted the challenge for her to run for Vice President under the Republican ticket. If she wins she would soon realize that then Vice President Harry Truman was right when he said: “The vice presidency is about as useful as the cow’s fifth teat.”

* * *

One US senator said Vice Presidents in his country do not have much duties in the government. Their first duty is to preside over the Senate. The other duty is to collect their pay.

* * *

Those are the same duties of the Vice President in the Philippines. There is a third duty: To silently check or monitor the heartbeat of the President.

So much about the Veeps. I got this email from Patricia Lumenada, who calls herself a health buff: “Mr. Jabat, do a good turn to your readers by keeping them aware of the warning signs of stroke, killer of many of our people.”

* * *

The five warning signs of stroke as emailed by Ms. Lumenada are: Weakness: Sudden weakness, numbness or tingling in the face, arm or leg. Trouble speaking: Sudden temporary loss of speech or trouble understanding speech. Vision problem: Sudden loss of vision, particularly in one eye, or double vision. Headache: Sudden severe and unusual headache. Dizziness: Sudden loss of balance, especially with any of the above signs.

* * *

Ms. Lumenada said that stroke is a medical emergency. If any of the above signs are experienced, call your doctor or any local medical emergency unit for immediate attention and assistance. Thanks, Ms. Lumenada, for your concern over the health, nay, the life, of our readers.

BOBIT SAYS: “Keep the faith and be thankful: 1) In the eyes of God, love is always present. 2) In the heart of God, forgiveness is always there. 3) In the embrace of God, no one is ever alone.”
