"Pungko-Pungko" as tourist attraction

- The Ear -

TOURIST ATTRACTION. If you think the sidewalk food servers, known as “pungko-pungko,” cater only to the poor, think again. A “pungko-pungko” food server along Leon Kilat St. was seen serving some backpack travellers (Caucasisns) who seemed to be enjoying their puso and pork barbecue. “Duna sad koy mga suki nga Koreano,” said the “pungko-pungko” food server.

CHEERING CEBUANOS. During the Aliwan festival parade in Manila last Saturda, a group of Cebuanos stayed put, up to early dawn Sunday to watch and cheer for the two Sinulog contingents from Cebu City and Carmen town. “Paskan sabaa sa atong mga igsoon Sugbuanon oy ... Siagit, pakpak, taghoy, unsa nalang nga kasaba ilang mahimo gihimo,” according to an Ear informer based in the Big City. “Well, wa mausik ang ilang singgit-singgit kay nanaug ang duha ka contingents gikan sa Cebu.”
