The return of Amok

AMOK LIVES!  A trisikad driver was heard asking why this certain “Amok” has never been convicted and jailed despite his numerous crimes. The driver said he has read in the newspapers about “Amok” on many, many occasions: “Amok hurts child, Amok shoots man, Amok shot dead after rampage.” “Patay na man gani,” he told his friends who laughed long and hard before telling him “Amok” is a term used to describe an enraged man gone to violence.

THANK YOU, WAWAY.  A few months ago, a scare hit Consolacion town about a serial killer who comes to the house of his intended victim at night and spat on their slippers as a sign he was stalking them. “Waway”, as he was called, was allegedly driven mad after his wife was raped and swore to avenge her. While later proven to be nothing more than an urban legend (or rural, in this case) parents said one good thing to come out of the “Waway” scare was that their children no longer go out at night or stay out late when they do.
