Bracing for the rice crisis

- The Ear -

NEGATIVE IMPACT. A reader told The Ear that the media is partly to blame for the rice crisis happening in the country. He said that because so much media mileage has been focused on the rice crisis, the people’s attention is now focused on rice and the possibility of rice shortage.

He said, “Tungod kay ang media nagsige man og istorya kabahin sa rice crisis, ang mga tawo morag na-condition na hinuon nga naa gyud diay rice crisis. Kung wala lang unta padaku-a sa media ang issue, dili ra man unta mograbe ang sitwasyon.”

PANIC BUYING. Another reader said that because of the reported rice crisis, the people are now panic buying and hoarding as much rice as they can in fear that the price of rice might be too much for them to afford later on.

He said, “Nisamot ang problema sa rice crisis kay bisan naay insaktong supply sa bugas, apan ang mga tawo, tungod sa ilang kahadlok nga mograbe pagsaka ang presyo sa rice, nag-panic buying na hinoon.”
