Balikbayans asking for CD, DVD of "Kinaiyang Sugbuanon"

- The Ear -

MEMORABLE EVENING. People are still talking about Dr. Dodong Gullas’ “Kinaiyang Sugbuanon” presented at the CICC last March 15. A balikbayan from New York was overheard saying he was particularly touched by the show because he used to be neighbors in Ramos with some of the composers given tribute that evening. He had fond memories of his early life growing up with the talented people. During the course of the evening, he, together with his brother from Davao, would reminisce about their childhood. When they saw the sons and daughters of the composers, he would give comments like, “Uy, katiguwang na ni___” or “Guwapa gihapon si ___ bisan edad-edaron na.” He said he would have wanted to buy a CD to bring back to the US if there was one for sale.

LOOKING FOR CD. A Cebuana now living in Baltimore, Maryland, USA who heard about Dr. Dodong Gullas’ “Kinaiyang Sugbuanon” called up her daughter in Cebu asking if a CD or a DVD is available. She instructed her daughter to buy several copies if CDs or DVDs are sold at the venue as several of her friends from Cebu are also interested in the show. The daughter asked at the registration table that evening, but none were available. When she told her mother the news, the teacher said, “Ay, kasayang. Kanindot unta tan-awon ang mga presentation sa harana, pamalaye ug kulilisi sa hari or paminawon man lang ang mga kanta. Kung naa pa ko diha sa Cebu, motan-aw gyud unta ko.”
