ERAP DEFENDED. A Sociology student in the process of writing a thesis interviewed some people in a slum area in Metro Cebu. “Would you believe,” he said, “that there are still some slum dwellers who don’t know Erap had been released?” And yet therse slum dwellers claim they are “loyalista ni Erap.” One old man said: “Gibuhian na diay si Erap? Haaay, salamat. Wa man guy sa’g busa ilang gibuhian.”
LONG-TIME LOYALISTS. Most of the slum dwellers interviewed by our Sociology student said they belonged to the masa that supported Erap since the day he ran for President. Why are they for Erap? “Tungod kay ‘Erap para sa mahirap’,” said one old woman. When asked: Has her life improved since she and her family started supporting Erap? The old woman did not answer.
