Candidates pour millions on tv ads sharing none with the provincial papers

- The Ear -
HE CALLED IT JUNK. Nine were killed when a Huey helicopter crashed in Lapu-Lapu City Saturday. A retired US Air Force pilot after reading the news about the crash, was heard saying: "It’s really true that they’re still using this junk. I thought a friend was just kidding when he said the Philippine Air Force is still using these vintage choppers." The same American air force retiree said: "Old generation Hueys have already been junked in Vietnam where these choppers saw much action."

NO ADS BUT...
A provincial newspaper editor has been heard grumbling: "Senatorial candidates don’t advertise in provincial/community newspapers, pouring their millions on television, but look at the big volume of press releases they e-mail to our newspaper — staggering!" The editor said: "Gusto lang mo-free ride sa provincial press."
