PARENTS'' OCCUPATION. A sixth grader who was made to fill up an information sheet, described her parents'' occupation as "Manguykoy og basura" (garbage scavenger). The teacher told The Ear: "Wa gyud niya ikauwaw ang trabaho sa iyang mga ginikanan." The teacher added: "Ug ang labing dalaygon mao nga mitug-an gyud siya sa tinuod."
MONEY IN GARBAGE. The same sixth grader told her teacher that she has two siblings in school. Their schooling expenses, like hers, are met by the money from the garbage collected by their parents. "because they''re still in the elementary grades, the expenses are not much said the teacher, "but it''s the parents'' determination to send their kids to school that impresses me."
