NEWSPAPER RENTER. A government official reads the daily newspapers by renting them in a downtown newsstand. He does this every morning before going to his office. "Pa-rent-rent lang tag newspaper kay di man ka afford mo-subscribe," he told a section head under him. "Lupig ra ka Sir sa amigo kong polis nga daghang newspaper ang dad-on sa bay libre," the section head said.
PEEPING TOM. There was another government official (now assigned in a Western Visayas city) who was jokingly called Peeping Tom by a newsstand proprietor. Peeping Tom because he did not buy or rent the day's newspapers but just peeps on the pages of the newspaper displayed on the newsstand. "Molili lang sa mga newspaper nga gibitay," the Ear informer said.
