Rains make us feel we live in a carwash

A number of bombs have exploded over the years in General Santos City. No, that's not the reason why they call GenSan a booming city.
"Body Builder Rapped for Raping 12-year-old" Headline. Reminds me of a story texted to me by Brenda Batuto about a mouse that was impregnated by an elephant.
A GMA network fan introduced to me three beauties with their navels showing. The girls knew I was joking when I said: "Wow, mga kapusod!" Hehehe.
We've been having rains the past many days. I hope our Asean friends won't tell people back home that for days they lived in a carwash.
Someone told me he saw two beggars making love under a skywalk during a heavy rain last week. Sinning in the rain, huh?
One afternoon last week photojournalist Loy Jurado visited me in my office and, among other things, we talked about a big sign on the fence of the Cebu Metropolitan Cathedral that said: "Cebu Metropolitan Cathedral Church."
"Di ba nga ang Cathedral ug church usa ra?" asked Loy.
"Bitaw," I said, "Cathedral ug church pareha ra."
The next day, Loy noticed that the sign had been removed from the Cathedral fence.
"Nadunggan tingali nila ang atong pagpanaway," I said to Loy.
"Tingali da," he said. "As the saying goes, 'the walls have ears.'"
If walls have ears, Loy, there are also ears with walls. These are the ears of some government officials who can't hear the gripes of the citizenry.
Another friend who dropped by my office last week was Leonardo "Daido" Angel. He's based in Manila but comes home once a year for the Pista Senyor celebration. We talked about many things - from Pilita Corrales (whom he calls Inday Pilits) to Banilad, SRP, etc.
"Grabeha sa pag uswag sa Banilad, sa no?" he said. "Morag siyudad na ron. Niadto mingaw kaayo, anha pa man gani mi mangahoy."
Daido Angel is with the Park 'n Go bakeshop, one of the fast-rising Cebu-based bakeshops in the country. I have sampled some of the products of this bakeshop and I give them two thumbs up. I say this not to make Daido happy (he's always happy in his single blessedness) but to make an unsolicited endorsement.
