WATCH THE SWINDLERS. Swindlers or hustlers operating in the city should be closely watched during the Asean Summit week. "If left alone they could be a black eye to Cebu," according to a former police official. "Mga langyaw nga bisita, lakip na ang mga sakop sa media, mao gyuy targeton ining mga mangingilad," the former cop brass told The Ear. "Sayon ra mailad kining mga langyaw kay dili uso ang street swindling didto sa ilaha." The same cop official said: "Our veteran policemen know who these swindlers are and where.
SOUVENIR VENDORS. Two bigtime souvenir dealers from a Western Visayan city came here last week to find out the profitability of vending souvenir items in Cebu during the Asean Summit. They left shaking their heads. One of them told a mediaman: "Business climate for souvenir products is unfavorable. There are many restrictions. Security is expected to be very tight...we better stay home and do business there."
