Mama Mary's messages
September 30, 2006 | 12:00am
A trumpet heralded Mama Mary's arrival and entrance into our home. She looked as regal as ever. She commanded so much reverent solemnity as she graced us with her visit. As she was being set upon an improvised altar earlier lovingly bedecked with beautiful flowers by Yaya Roni, Anelor and their friend, something caught my attention.
Did Mama Mary look very sad and weary? Her back seemed to have become more bent - she looked like she had such a heavy burden on her.
" Mama Mary comes to a home for a reason," Brother Bong told us all. We were with our family, friends, and neighbors. Later, as the visit proceeded, our guests and we knew and understood Mama Mary's special message for each of us that special night.
" In-igo kaayo da!" one guest told us. "God is closest to those with trials and hardships, " Brother Bong explained. She got the special message that night that she was not abandoned, that instead, she was beloved by God. She came in with such unsteady and weak steps. She left feeling stronger and lifted in spirit. She realized she just had to lean on to God and the weight that she allowed herself to be burdened with would lighten. We all continue to pray that she will move on to live and enjoy a healthier, happier life in, with, for the Lord!
And I realized too what Mama Mary's message to me was! " Mama Mary appeared before the First World War, when the Pope then was a Benedict, " continued Brother Bong. " Once again, we have a Pope named Benedict, " and are we again on the verge of another world war?" we all asked ourselves after hearing him say this. Has the world changed after several apparitions of Our Lady, at Fatima, elsewhere? Is our world at peace or moving towards peace at present?
Looking back once more at Mama Mary, I realized the bent back and sad face were loud signals to us that her messages have been ignored. She had asked the three children at Fatima to pray, for us to pray and pray the Rosary each day for peace, for world peace. Yet, the world and this world's people remain devoid of peace. She asked us, too, to pray for the needy of this world as well as the "poor souls who most need our Lord's help to be brought to heaven."
And it dawned very clearly on me why we need to pray the Rosary, why we have to go through each of the decades, through all the mysteries, and the litanies as often as we possibly can! There are just so many of us, so many people throughout this world and those who have left this world, who need prayers, who have their own petitions they need prayers for!
Each bead that we go through connects us with those in need, including ourselves. Each bead connects all of us, in turn, back to our divine Father, His Son, and the Holy Spirit, Mama Mary, our angels and all the saints. Each bead connects our earth with our heaven, through our Mama Mary who obediently and humbly agreed to bring Jesus from heaven to this world.
Mama Mary reminds us to pray the Rosary to be reminded about the love shared by God our Father who gave up His only Son, born to our Virgin Mother, so that all His creation may be restored and reunited with Him in His home in heaven!
Was that a smile that I saw fleetingly as we sang Daily, daily Sing to Mary, halfway through our rosary and after having realized her personal message to me?
There were other messages received by those touched by our Mama Mary during her recent visit with us that cannot all be shared in this limited column. As she was escorted back to her home in Guadalupe, the trumpet once again sounded as we all thanked her for visiting us and leaving each of us with her special message for our hearts and lives.
Sunday heralds in a new month, October, the holy month of Mama Mary's Holy Rosary, our bridge connecting us with ourselves, with our neighbors, and with our God and all His heavenly beings and creations! Please, please, Mama Mary continues to plead and remind us, please pray the Rosary. The family that prays together stays together! Let our whole world pray together and stay together in love and peace!
