A woman was arrested while trying to bribe policemen. You missed your target, Madam.
It says here that a lawyer beat an engineer in a friendly boxing match. They call that power of attorney.
The PNP has formed teams of police officers to keep an eye on rogue cops. They're called Honesty Teams. Good idea this. But let's hope the best policy sticks.
Our broadcaster friends are celebrating the KBP month. Did you know that KBP-Cebu is the best KBP chapter in the country? My young friend Edward Abad, KBP-Cebu chairman, hasn't been doing Abad job, has he?
Spain beat (routed is more like it) Greece, 70-47, to win the World Basketball Championship in Japan. It was a lopsided win over the team that put the mighty US NBA stars to shame. It looks like the Spaniards treated the Greeks like toys.
My favorite councilor, Hon. Arsenio "Pax" Pacana, has called the attention of Citom to the flagrant violation of Ordinance No. 356. This ordinance prohibits overnight parking of trucks, cars, pushcarts, etc. on the streetsides, which is what's been happening all these years.
Councilor Pacana's move comes on the heels of an earlier vow by another city official to get rid of overnight parkers, which never happened. My friend Nick P. observes that many car owners who can't provide garage for their cars park the vehicles along the street overnight.
"Ang uban nila mikoral sa ilang sakyanan daplin sa dan," Nick P. said. "Labaw pa ka obstruction sa traffic kay sa sidewalk vendors."
"Bitaw. Naka-observe sad ko," I said. "Unsa kahay maayong buhaton aron mawa ang overnight parking no?"
"Dili baligyaag awto or truck kadtong way garahe. And the LTO should see to it nga dunay garahe ang tanang sakyanan nga iparehistro diha nila," suggested Nick P.
I asked my friend Nick P. if his car has a garage and his reply was: "Way garage kay way kotse."
"Ako, Bay," I said. "Way kotse pero dunay garage."
"He! He!" my friend said.
