Ignorance is more expensive

HAVE BAT WILL STRIKE - Juanito V. Jabat   -
The headline says GMA wants the AFP to wipe out the NPA terrorists. Ate Glo forgot that the AFP is not the Israeli armed forces.

It will be difficult to wipe out the NPA - not unless we ask the Israeli armed force to do it for us. This according to my sidewalk philosopher friend Nido Polancos.

Education has become so expensive many have quit school. Sooner or later they'll realize that ignorance is more expensive.

A school adminis-trator says their school is a fountain of knowledge. But he says it's not true that their students end up all wet.

Again, they're saying that Hollywood has produced into movies the best books you ever read. Yes, including the Bible. Years back I asked and let me ask again: When will Hollywood produce into a movie my favorite book, the dictionary?

I was listening to a radio commentator discuss religion and hitting a certain sect for "being misguided." Then and there I recalled what C.C. Colton said about religion. "Men," he said, "will wrangle for religion, write for it, fight for it, died for it; anything but live for it."

Vice Governor Greg Sanchez was right in trying to ignore ex-Sen. Sonny Osmeña's allegation that second hand structural steel beams are used in the construction of the Cebu International Cultural center in Mandaue. After denying Sonny O's allegation, the Vice Governor said: "Di na angay'ng hatagan og pagtagad."

Greg Sanchez said they (those working and racing against time for the completion of the project) don't want to be disturbed as they have a deadline to meet. The ASEAN Summit is fast approaching and there is still no CICC standing. Let's not block the CICC's way to completion.

My friend John Jaspe's suggestion to critics: "Maypag punit mog pala ug martilyo unya tabang paghuman sa CICC."

The move to ban "kagang-kagang" (dilapidated) taxis from parking in the vicinity of hotels and shopping malls during the ASEAN Summit is a sound idea. Rundown taxicabs do not speak well of our claim to being a modern ASEAN City. Let's make this move really move.
