Not much fuss about Mandaue City's boom

Today is supposed to be Blue Monday. But darn it! Today is payday!
Always greet the day with a smile, says my friend Bobit Avila. Thank God for another day and pray: "Lord help me make this day better than yesterday." Amen to that.
Also from Bobit Avila: "The earth weights 6.6 septillion tons. Don't make it heavier by carrying a heavy heart. Stay light. Laugh often." That's easy. What's not easy is to find out how Bobit got the weight of the Earth.
It's useless. Banning the controversial movie "The Da Vinci Code" is useless. That is, if it's true that even before the showing of the film in RP pirated DVD copies of this movie have been making the rounds and many families have already seen it.
I agree with those who say that the showing of "The Da Vinci Code" is a test for the strength or weakness of one's faith in Jesus whom Christians have been believing in for some 2,000 years. Only those who have little faith may succumb to what many fear would result from the showing of the film.
Heard of the Filipino-Canadian schoolboy who got punished by his teacher for eating with a spoon? This is the first time in the history of the spoon that someone is penalized for using it. My friend Rey Castro raises this question: "Do Canadian eat soup with a fork?" And this. "Are rich Canadians born with a silver fork in their mouth?"
Mandaue City is booming but officials of the city aren't making much fuss about it. In revealing the city's massive development plan, Mayor Teddy Ouano did it without the proverbial blare of bugles and ruffle of drums. He was humble about it. Those in the know foresee a Mandaue enjoying an economic growth rivaling Cebu City's.
But a knowledgeable observer says: "Mandaue will have a tough time catching up with Cebu City's development ... Cebu City is already up there ug ayaw kog ingna nga mohunong na kini sa pag-develop further." This observer, an economic expert in his own right, doesn't want to be identified because he's a "strong fan of Teddy Ouano."
