Letter to the Editor A tribute to a lost comrade
April 26, 2006 | 12:00am
During the incumbency of President Emeritus, Atty. Adellino B. Sitoy as then President of SUKNA in the year 1997, Jojo de la Victoria carried the task as Secretary of the Association. Denouncing Graft and Corruption as we do exposing wrong doings of people within and outside the Government, Jojo de la Victoria had his share and his efforts were not fruitless.
His voice over the microphone and the acts he discharged being a Public Official for a better government, rang louder and mightier that the sound of his assassin's bullet through the barrel of his gun snapping the life of Jojo. The echo signals us not to stop but rather encourages us altogether to continue without letup our crusades against people sowing ills in our society.
To borrow the famous lines of the greatest late American president the world one time had, "We shall pay any price to assure the survival of peace and liberty". And added in another occasion saying "Ask not what your government can do for you. But rather ask what you can do for your government".
In a society that is always disturbed by these criminal elements, the doings of these rascals will flourish without end, if good citizens like you will just fold their arms and do nothing! So let us altogether put a stop to these wanton killings. Let us help the government help us in obtaining peace that seems to very elusive. From any angle these killings must be stopped!
We challenge you then to extend whatever help you can to our government that is always facing a blank wall in their attempt to solve these killings.
May the blood of our late comrade Jojo De la Victoria be the last to be spilled in our quest for peace in our society.
Elpidio "Jojo" De la Victoria is dead...
Long live Jojo's principles and his achievements.
