Student gets backlash for Nazi graduation picture
MANILA, Philippines — A student received immense backlash for posting a photo on social media of him or her wearing a Nazi costume and giving the Nazi salute for a graduation picture.
The graduating student changed his or her Facebook profile picture with the controversial photo, writing in the caption, "Graduation pic goes hard."
In the comments section, the student even began saying things like "time to fail art school," "balls of steel for real," and "buti hindi ako napatalsik."
Such comments were immediately drowned by other invididuals who criticized the student for such a display of insensitivity given the historical nature of Nazism.
Many pointed out that such a post, likely an attempt to be edgy, would damage the student's future.

With the picture continuing to circulate, the student took the photo down from his or her account and posted an apology admitting that he or she never never intended to offend anyone or the photo to go viral.
The student's excuse for not taking immediate action in taking it down was because he or she was "already asleep" when it was making rounds on the Internet.
The student also clarified the picture was an unofficial graduation photo taken outside of school since no institution would allow such a picture to be taken, adding that her or his schools were not involvement at all.
As of writing, the student has deactivated his or her social media accounts, though in a story post, the student's violations and punishments were screencaptured, including having his or account restricted for violating community standards on dangerous individuals and organizations.
Millions of individuals died in Europe during World War II at the hands of Nazis, and any display of Nazism in the present day is frowned upon and often immediately denounced.
