Wardrobe staples by Bleach Blank

Whenever people ask what’s my favorite homegrown clothing-line, Bleach Catastrophe is on the top of my list.

Known for soft, well-made tees with edgy patterns and contemporary prints, the underground label gained attention when it launched a capsule collection called Heather Miss Grey — a collaboration with designer Cecile van Straten.

So far, the limited-edition line has produced two well-received collections.

Heeding a great demand for graphic-less clothes, Cristine Villamiel, owner and creative director, decided to come up with Bleach Blank.

Its initial offering is a 20-piece collection of one-of-a-kind basics for men and women, sans prints — just plain canvas — that can be worn as anyone’s daily uniform.

It is designed for all ages, shapes and sizes — whether short, tall, skinny or full.

For this collection, Cristine redesigns flat patterns playing with raglan, extended or folded sleeves, asymmetrical cuts, long backs, or cropped hemlines.

Fabrics used are typically jersey, fleece, and terry knits.

Simple details such as loose pockets, fine ribbings, and slightly rolled-out sleeves provide a chic yet effortless look.

Since these are designed as basic staples in anyone’s wardrobe, sensible undertones of black, white, beige, or gray with flashes of pinstripes are the color palette of the collection.

A must-have is the unisex shirt with extended shoulders that create an illusion of having slim and longer arms.

Another is the bestselling raglan tunic dress, made of high-quality terry knit and highlighted with contrasting colored ribbing.

Cristine plans to add more pieces towards the end of the year as she explores more silhouettes and patterns.  

Pieces are affordably priced between P700 to P1,800.
