Jungolf founder passes away

Junior Golf Foundation of the Phils. and Asia Pacific Junior Golf Confederation founder Amalia Montecillo passed away yesterday at age 88.

Her remains lie in state at the Heritage Park in Taguig.

Montecillo founded Jungolf in 1976 and was the golf body’s chairman and APJGC secretary-general at the time of her death.

LPGA campaigner Jennifer Rosales and brother Gerald, Jayvie Agojo, Carito Villaroman, Mary Grace Estuesta, Ruby Chico, Ramon Brobio, Juami Rocha, Tom Concon, Artemio Murakami were some of the Jungolfers who became world-class players under her wings.
