VIRAL: Artworks that scream women empowerment and gender equality
MANILA, Philippines – The body trend and gender bigotry are just some of the issues that most women are dealing with in our present generation.
Ad campaigns glamorize unhealthy stereotypes and behaviors, making women more vulnerable to criticisms from the public.
Carol Rossetti, a Brazilian designer and illustrator, highlighted these issues and fought back in the most creative way possible by posting on social media illustrations that depict the difficulties faced by women in our society – from body image, sexuality, racism, ageism, polyamory, casual sex, rape and abortion.
The series of illustrations, she call WOMEN show that all women must be loved regardless of their backgrounds and experiences.

ON BODY IMAGE AND APPEARANCE
ON THE WAY THEY DRESS
ON THEIR GENDER AND PARTNER PREFERENCE
A WOMAN IS NOT DEFINED BY HER PAST EXPERIENCES, BUT DEFINED BY WHAT SHE DID AND HOW SHE STRIVED HARD TO COPE UP WITH THOSE BAD EXPERIENCES.
Rossetti started the project with the Portuguese language. She then started translating the text on each illustration into English. As her artworks gain more recognition, more women are volunteering to translate the artworks into several languages so the message would reach more audience. Carlo Rossetti's Facebook page has gained more than 180,000 likes, a Tumblr page and an international following.
