Infographic: Typhoon survival tips
MANILA, Philippines – The Department of Education (DepEd) has issued a typhoon survival advisory as parts of the country brace for Supertyphoon Lawin.
DepEd reminds the public to always be updated with the news on the supertyphoon and prepare emergency kits ahead of landfall. Residents in areas forecast to be directly hit by Lawin are also advised to relocate early to avoid casualties.
The agency also advised the public to keep in mind emergency hotlines to be contacted for assistance.

In 2014, the Philippine Red Cross also released "Survival Tips" before, during and after a typhoon.
During typhoon, PRC advised to the public to stay inside but recommended those who needed to evacuate must be relocate calmly and not wade through flood waters to avoid being electrocuted and contracting diseases. They were also asked to avoid the leading to the river and keep safe at all times to avoid untoward incides.
PRC said after the typhoon, public must report damaged electrical cables and fallen electric posts to the authorities. Public is also warned of dangerous animals such as snakes that may have entered houses.
Supertyphoon Lawin is expected to make landfall and cause damage in northern Luzon provinces.
