MANILA, Philippines – Plan your quick getaways ahead as the country will have two special non-working holidays this February.

In August 2015, President Benigno Aquino III already declared holidays for 2016 which include the two holidays for February: Chinese New Year and the EDSA People Power Revolution anniversary.

Chinese New Year is on February 8 which falls on a Monday, while the EDSA People Power Revolution anniversary is on February 25, a Thursday.

In Aquino’s proclamation, he noted that Chinese nationals all over the world will celebrate their Spring Festival or Chinese New Year on February 8 which he described as the most revered and festive event celebrated not only in China but also the Philippines.

He also declared February 25 a special non-working holiday as the country will commemorate EDSA People Power Revolution’s 30th anniversary.

There are six long weekends for 2016 which include Feb. 6 to 8, 2016.
