MANILA, Philippines — The cheers at the Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino in Las Vegas, California on December 20 grew louder as host Steve Harvey announced that Miss Philippines Pia Wurzbach is this year's winner.
Harvey initially announced Miss Colombia Ariadna Gutiérrez as the 64th Miss Universe but took back the announcement as he realized he misread the card containing the results.
The almost unbelievable twist immediately set social media on fire. While some call it the "the worst mistake in TV awards show history," fans of Wurtzbach dub it as the "best blunder" in history.

Wurtzbach bested 79 other delegates to end the title drought of the Philippines. She also had the highest average score in the Swimsuit competition and evening gown competition, which are based from the votes of fans all over the world.
