MANILA, Philippines - The education of around 900 Lumad children are interrupted as they were forced to leave their homes due to the threat brought by activities of paramilitary men.
Data from Assistance and Cooperation for Community Resilience and Development showed that 913 children are not going to school while 67 teachers are unable to teach properly due to the current situation in Surigao del Sur.
Meanwhile, 11 schools were forced to close down.
As of last week, around 547 families or 2,790 individuals are staying at the Tandag City Sports Complex in Surigao del Sur. This number is expected to increase steadily.
