You can be a tree when you die?
MANILA, Philippines - When you die, would you like to be cremated or be buried underground where worms can feast on your body? Not to sound harsh, but with the growing human population, thinking of a sustainable way to "dispose" dead bodies is a question that is needed to be addressed.
Fact is, the trees used to build coffins need 10 to 40 years to grow. With the extinction of different tree species, Capsula can save trees. Moreover, it promotes a healthier environment. Rather than seeing a land covered with tombstones, people can enjoy a sprawling sight of greens.
As an attempt to save space on cemeteries and keep the burials greener, a company driven by Spanish design studio Estudimoline invented Bios Urn, a fully biodegradable urn designed to convert you into a tree after life. According to its website, the urn contains a seed which will grow to remember your loved one. But the innovation and attempt to change human habits did not stop there.
Capsulamundi, an Italian company composed of two Italian designers envisioned a way to have a green funeral and eco-friendly burials. And it is through the invention of Organic Burial Pods, a biodegradable burial capsule that will turn the dead body into nutrients for a tree that will grow out of their remains. Rather than creating a cemetery, you can create a memory forest for your loved ones.

Here's how the green transformation works:

What makes this project even more great? You can choose your own tree.
