MANILA, Philippines — Like the youth delegates and other attendees at the University of Santo Tomas on Sunday, Pope Francis wore his own identification card and lanyard to the ceremony.

The ID and strap was a gift from the university to the pontiff as administrator of the pontifical institution.

Pope Francis serves as chancellor of the 404-year-old university.
