WATCH: Robot recreates ‘crane kick’ from Karate Kid movie
MANILA, Philippines – Boston Dynamics’ newly built robot is not just designed to provide humanitarian aid in nuclear disaster sites. Apparently, this startling figure is designed to give you amusement as well. The 6 foot 2 inch-tall robot is also built up to recreate a key scene from the movie the karate kid.
On the video below, the robot, dubbed as Atlas, is seen copying the ‘crane kick.’ The 330-pound robot balances its weight on a cinder block using one leg and raising his arms slowly in the air.

A robotics research institute called Florida Institute for Human and Machine Interaction programmed the robot’s moves. Atlas includes 28 hydraulically actuated degrees of freedom, two hands, arms, legs, feet and a torso and is powered from an off-board, electric power supply via a flexible tether.
According to the programmer, the robot cannot only do the ‘Karate Kid’ moves but as well as jump and even drive a car. According to them, their goal is to create fast, efficient and versatile two-legged robots to aid the United States military team.
