Dasmariñas residents commend guards for refusing Binay
MANILA, Philippines - Homeowners of exclusive Dasmariñas Village commended the subdivision's security guards for refusing to let a convoy of Makati Mayor Junjun Binay and Senator Nancy Binay from passing through a closed gate last November 30.
In a letter addressed to residents, Dasmariñas Village Association president Jay Pantiangco said the guards, who were reportedly questioned by police after the incident, were only following policies.
"The four security guards still continue their duty and have been given both commendations and gifts from residents, who have shown their support for the guards' performance in upholding and implementing Dasmariñas Village policies," Pantiangco wrote in the letter dated December 23.
The issue gained national attention as several camps chided the Binay clan for allegedly using their influence to skirt rules.
Junjun, meanwhile, denied ordering the arrest of security guards after they argued with the politician's entourage for about 15 minutes. Nancy also defended her brother and said that the matter was blown up by the family's political opponents.

The village's board of governors, however, stood by the security officials' actions as they were "performing their duty" and upheld the private subdivision's operating procedures.
"The DVA board is still fully committed to continue to uphold our policies for the security and safety of our residents," Pantiangco added.
