Megan Young back in Manila Oct. 10

MANILA, Philippines - Recently crowned Miss World 2013 Megan Young will return to Manila on Oct. 10.

Miss World Philippines director Cory Quirino made the announcement yesterday during ABS-CBN News’ weekend celebration of the 60 years of Philippine television.

Quirino said Young would have a motorcade along Ayala Avenue in Makati City on Oct. 11. She also invited the public to “meet and greet” the first Filipina who won the Miss World title.

In her Twitter account, the 23-year-old Young (@meganbata) announced that she would be coming home next week. She is currently in London, which will be her official residence until the end of her reign as Miss World next year.

“Had the chance to be on BBC earlier and was interviewed by @LucyHockingsBBC :) also, coming home next week!” the actress-turned-beauty queen posted on her Twitter account.

The ABS-CBN News report also said that Quirino called on the public to forgive those who are bashing the newly crowned Miss World.

“Patawarin na lang natin silang lahat (Let’s just forgive all of them),” she was quoted as saying.

Quirino said this amid the rage of some Filipino netizens against an online user who bashed Young following her win.

“Miss Philippines is Miss World? What a joke! I did not know those maids have anything else in them Ha Ha Ha,” a Facebook account under the name Devina DeDiva said after the contest.

The post enraged netizens, who called the post inappropriate and racist.

Young won the Miss World 2013 pageant held in Bali, Indonesia on Sept. 28. She bested 126 other candidates from all over the world.

A product of GMA-7’s reality talent show StarStruck, Young took the crown from Miss World 2012 winner Wenxia Yu of China.

Young promised “to be the best Miss World ever.”

Miss France Marine Lorphelin and Miss Ghana Carranzar Naa Okailey Shooter placed second and third, respectively.
