In Singapore, Chickenjoy rules

MANILA, Philippines - Jollibee’s famous “Chickenjoy” was found to be the best fried chicken in Singapore, based on a simple blind taste test conducted recently by Yahoo! Singapore.

The blind taste test involved a panel of six – Singaporeans, Malaysians, a Filipino and an Indonesian – who were asked to assess chicken dishes from Jollibee, KFC, Popeyes, Texas Chicken and 4Fingers.

Jollibee’s Chickenjoy got three out of six votes. It was found to have the juiciest meat, and the skin was said to be thin and crispy.

“The meat is flavorful,” was the general sentiment and one big reason why three of the six tasters voted for it.

The chickens from Texas Chicken, Popeyes, and 4Fingers all got a vote each, while KFC got nil.

Jollibee, which introduced Chickenjoy in the market in August 1980, opened its first store

in Singapore last month.

As of February this year, Jollibee has 782 stores in the Philippines, 27 in the US, and 67 in Southeast Asia and the Middle East.

In 2012, Jollibee was named as one of the best fastfood chains in the world by American magazine Travel + Leisure.
